Either the tech person is completely tech-ignorant or they were blatantly lying to my mother-in-law to try and trick her into buying a brand new laptop. Either way, I highly highly do NOT recommend going here for any service or advice.
Look, I can understand if Staples doesn't want to repair computers, but don't offer a service center to begin with. Don't make up ridiculous lies to try and sell someone a brand new machine. And if you do want to have a tech center, try and hire someone with basic knowledge of computers.
Why 3 Stars? Because I get all of Staples angry customers. So I am kinda on the fence. As for my personal opinion of shopping in the store, horrible, absolutely horrible. I walked around for an hour trying to get someone's attention to help me find a simple hard drive, and they were out of them anyways. Very Respectfully- Jason Stewart (USN Ret.) Owner and Operator of Virutec Computer Repair.
The computer I bought is nice but I have had trouble learning Microsoft 10 easily and had some questions. Although the manager clearly stated he would help me anytime he was free, after I called to see if he'd be in, he took the day off and the remaining manager was rude, obnoxious, unhelpful, immature, and made it clear that his focus was profit and not any customer. Even his own staff made fun of him as he has lost control of the storeroom floor. They call him "sideburns" because he wears his sideburns ala' a silly shaved Elvis. After an argument, I had to pay $30 for a $5 question I had already input correctly. What pompous, poorly-trained jerks. Order online next time. Will not ever see me here to buy again, just window shop and use the Internet.
Very disappointed! My mother-in-law 's Chromebook needed a simple Chrome OS recovery. We sent her in to Staples because they now offer "tech service" and we are several states away. (You need a physical flash drive in hand with the recovery files on it...) Anyway, she went in and explained what she needed and the guy immediately told her that she needed a new computer. He went on to tell her that her Chromebook was "obviously so full of viruses" that it was completely destroyed – this is without even looking at the computer... He tried to convince her that a new computer was the only solution. This is ridiculous for several reasons, the biggest one being that getting EVEN A SINGLE virus on a Chromebook is highly unlikely. Almost to the point that the laptop would have to have been specifically targeted by someone. This is fundamental knowledge.
Meanwhile, we loaded the recovery software onto a USB stick ourselves and mailed it to Florida. I will walk my mother-in-law through the recovery process and she will fix her own laptop when it gets there.
The service was terrible, people don't know how to help you when they are there to help you.
When the printing center was printing and cutting our reception place cards, they failed to double check their work and make sure they had printed all of the documents. By the time we realized their mistake the store was already closed, & my poor husband had to spend that morning printing the remaining cards. There were quite a few missing. Needless to say, never entrust them with a large and important job.
This says it is from Sheila but it is from JEFF CLARK.
