I was here last year appoxmently 11 months ago. And WoW!!! I have never in my 48 years of life seen something or a business of this type go from bad to absolutely amazingly worse within 11 months. I just thought halfway house's or sober living home's was nothing but a money scam. OMG, not only is it a money scam. It's actually the worst case of insurance frawd I have ever seen in my life.
If I could give a negative star count I would, this facility was very unprofessional treated my 72 year old grandmother like a piece of trash, she was in the mental health unit of the hospital, she has severe mental illness and beginning stages of dementia, she had numerous “case/social workers” assigned to her throughout her 2-3 month stay, working with us (her family and her) to get her placed in a longer term care facility. Each time we spoke to one a staff member we were advised differently. Ultimately what happened was they advised us they had a facility for her to go to, they had her driven there and just dropped her off to a facility that wouldn’t accept her, so a stranger gave her a ride back to the hospital and she was OUTSIDE on the street waiting 8-10 hours (family was never informed of any of this until hours later after she was on the street, (family is all 2+ hours away-had to drive to get her at 2:30 am) we tried to get the police involved, the mental health unit RESFUSED her care and straight up LIED about getting her into a facility – not sure how this is legal – but it happened. DO NOT GO HERE, THEY WILL TREAT YOU and YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS LIKE WORTHLESS PIECES OF TRASH AND LEAVE YOU ON THE STREET.
If I could give ZERO stars I would. These people are crooks. They billed our insurance more than once and claimed diagnosis of things my husband was never notified of or given meds for. I have been fighting them and my insurance for a year and a half. If you care about your loved ones DO NOT SEND THEM HERE!!!
This is not at all anything about recovery or mental health treatment.
I am going to end this review with Google. However, I haven't even gotten started with, The state of Florida bord of nursing, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Federal Disability Commission in Washington DC. Other than the notes of exactly what I have been told by who and every patients rights was I have record of. I'm am sure you will in some way at a little later date. Hear ALOT more about this, and probley the outcome about it.
I cought my social worker in so many freaking lies, including but not limited to talking to my sister and taking it upon herself, right after me telling her not. She ask my sister if she would help me financially to get in a recovery or sober living home. I mean really? She will also sit at the same table that the doctors do, or out in the common area somewhere to do your assessment with you where everyone else can hear. And her office is one the unit. After doing my assessment with me, but had another patients chart. Once we realized it. She never finished it, and every week there after she done me weekly assessments without me even being there. I complained about all this with her and wrote grievances and spoke to her supervisor. Also, she made me a very important outside doctor's appointment with a infection disease doctor. She told me the appointment was on October 10th and something told me, I needed to call and double check. Because I knew she was up to something, by just the way she came in my room and gave me the information about it. So I called to verify. And it was actually on October 3rd, the day before my discharge date of October 4th. Had I missed it, like she had planned it. It would have been a new patient no show.
Every single substances abuse, mental health disability act hippa laws that's been written and passed by us congress to protect the patient privacy under federal law. Is violated on a unbelievable not only daily basis, on a hourly basis every single day. The psychiatrist and medical doctors. Sit and talk to you at a table that all the other patients walk right up too where they get their coffee and other drinks. Or just sit around listening to what your talking about with your doctor. When a nurse is giving medications. Other patients even as their told every morning not to be hanging out at the nurses desk, they stilaftk right up too you watching you take medication. I don't know why they even bother telling everyone to stay away from the counter. Because when the nurse yells out so loud what pill your getting and what mg it is by the people sitting watching tv. Why would it matter if your at the counter or not? I had a bunch of other patients come up and say, I can't believe your getting Vicodin 10/325 mg. And I can't have it.. And get pissed off at you for it and spreds it all over the unit like wild fire. And the damn nurses and doctors even the MHT'S just stand or sit there watching and listening to them do it. So I ask them, what the hell, your not going to even ask him to stop. And takes me off in private to say. You know, he doesn't know any better. It will be okay. Are you freaking kidding me.
Thank you Port St. Lucie hospital and staff, for the most respectful respect in teaching me to be able to get my life back on track. Yes just like most in patient 28 day programs, there's always room for improvement. However, overall it's by far the best 28 day program ive admitted myself into!
I was just spoken to like I don't deserve a chance. Intake was so cold. Not once, but twice today. I never thought it could be worse than New Horizons. I just wanted help. I'm sorry that I have crap insurance
